The cherry tree planting will take place on 29th August 2019 at the new Munch Museum, between 11:00 and 12:00. On the occasion of our 40th anniversary nearly two years ago, the Japan-Norway Society presented the Munch Museum with the idea of donating the trees. Since the new museum grounds are now almost ready, we will be planting five cherry trees together with the director of the Munch Museum. We will have the pleasure of the following guests of honor joining the ceremony: HE Masahiro Tauchi, the Ambassador of Japan, as well as a the Mayor of the City of Oslo and the President of Idemitsu Japan, who has been one of the major donors to the Munch Museum for the past thirty years. Idemitsu is also a a long standing corporate member of the Japan-Norway Society and has contributed half of the cherry trees. We would like to extend this invitation to our members to witness the ceremony and take part in covering the cherry trees with soil at this very auspicious occasion.
When: August 29, 11-12:00. Where: at the corner of the new Munch Museum, on your left just after crossing the pedestrian bridge from the Opera.
